As we start a new year all the talk about resolutions starts back up again and I can't help but be a little cynical towards the whole thing. One time yearly resolutions never hold, lifestyle changes do. The perfect way to change your outlook on life and in effect your lifestyle is to provide yourself with experiences that challenge your fears. I'm referring to the fears that reside in deepest depths of your God given soul. The ones that only those closest to you know, the ones that you conveniently hide from others without even knowing because you have been doing it for so long.
I gave it a try on the first day of 2015, with the help and encouragement of my wife, kids and a few dear close friends I attacked a lifelong fear. For me the experience of jumping into the frigid waters wasn't the fear, my fear ran much deeper. It was the fear of not knowing the complete how/what/when and why of a situation that involved a boat load of people I did not know. I would be on display, so to speak and that scared me into the point of literally not sleeping the night before. My fear is being on display or speaking or performing in front of massive amounts of people. Without rambling on and on, let me say that it was a fear shattering experience that was almost as life altering as when I accepted Jesus Christ into my life. I did it and I encourage you to give it a try, don't settle for a resolution to something in your life when you can change the course of it all together.
